Teachers Continuing Education

Before starting a new school, the staff have a week of meetings and continuing education classes.  We start each year with our annual welcome back breakfast and new year orientation meeting.  This year it was time to recertify in CPR and First Aid with the American Heart Association.  I am proud to say ALL staff members are Adult, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid certified.  One of the most informative classes we had was Cavity Free Kids taught by the MS State Department of Health.  It was a very interesting and interactive class.  We have some photos posted below.  Our motto this year is "TEACH, LOVE, INSPIRE" we are already hard at work allowing it to guide us daily!!

September  Update: The staff attended a conference lead by Excel by 5 and our local school district.  Our main guest speaker was from a program called Move to Learn which is a fun way to incorporate learning skills with music and movement.

Field Trip to Curry Farms in Start, LA.  October 2019

October is Fire Prevention Month

October is Fire Safety Month and the children spend the month learning about preventing fires, firefighters and fire equipment,  and what to do in case of a fire.  The classrooms have special centers set up for the children to explore and a special lesson, along with videos throughout the month.  The older children went to the Annual Fire Safety Program at the City Pavilion on Friday, October 11.  They had a great time and learned some new skills.  We might have some future firefighters!!

Halloween Fun!!!

We celebrated big for Halloween!!  Plenty of costumes, candy and chaos!  The older students sang and Trick or Treated the Vicksburg Convalescent Home. The residents and students enjoyed their time together.

Thanksgiving 2021

Christmas in the Park  December 2019

Students in Mrs. Gloria and Mrs. Erin's classes went to Christmas in the Park at Downtown Vicksburg. They enjoyed riding the carousel, making a craft, listening to a story from Mrs. Claus, riding the trolley and even getting a stuffed elf to bring home.  On the way back they stopped at Beidenharn Candy Store and had an ice cream!  It was a wonderful day!

February is Dental Health Month

The students enjoyed a visit from State Dental Hygenist, Ms. Deanna.  They brought along Homer Horse so the children could practice brushing teeth and learn about good oral hygiene.  Everyone got to take home a brand new toothbrush!

Valentine's Day 2020

All the children enjoyed  lovely Valentine's Day celebrations!  Teachers used the holiday to discuss how the Postal Service works.  A Post Office was set up in the room along with a letter writing station and children could "mail" and "deliver" letters.  Johnny Conerly, local Postal Carrier, came to school and explained  about his job.  Students then walked to the mailbox and mailed a valentine home to loved ones!  The Preschool and PreK classes walked to Vicksburg Convalescent Home to hand out valentines and sing for residents.  Our students always want to share the LOVE!!!
